Mathematics is a subject that many students find intimidating and difficult. A good mathematics teacher, on the other hand, can make or break a student’s learning experience. Even the most complex mathematical concepts can be simplified and easily understood by a skilled mathematics teacher. Today, Mr. Gueye Ibrahima, a Mathematics Faculty at DAUST, will discuss the qualities of a great mathematics teacher and how they can make a difference in the lives of their students. Mr. Gueye Ibrahima has been teaching for more than a decade and loves every minute of it.
Mr. Gueye has been fascinated by mathematics since his childhood. While other students saw it as difficult, he saw it as exciting. He developed a strong interest in the subject early in his academic career. “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life,” he said. So, I’m doing what I enjoy.”
He went to the United States to further his education after receiving his BAC from Lamine Gueye’s High School. Mr. Gueye graduated from Central Piedmont Community College with an Associate Degree in Computer Science and from Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Finance. In addition, he holds a second Master’s Degree in Science, specifically Mathematics, from Chicago State University (CSU).
He began as a Teaching Assistant in his second year at CSU and quickly fell in love with the profession. It was rewarding for him to assist struggling students in overcoming their Mathematics challenges. Furthermore, he enjoys the part where he never stops learning. The concepts he taught students were understood, and he was able to deepen his understanding in the process.
Any professor can teach intelligent students. The challenge is figuring out how to take struggling students and put them in a situation where they can regain confidence and trust in their abilities to succeed. Why is it important to understand such a concept? ”I must admit that it is difficult and a constant struggle. I’d like to say that I’ve had complete success in that endeavor. Sadly, this is not the case. But it’s very rewarding to see struggling students who keep working hard and have grit go through the process of overcoming their challenges. Seeing the progression of students’ academic achievement is invaluable.”
Mr. Gueye is completely dedicated to teaching because he has a heavy teaching load at DAUST. As a result, his activity outside the classroom is centered on refining his lectures, updating contents, and incorporating end-of-semester student feedback in order to deliver the most effective lectures.
